Know how to start a fire??

Recently when we send the food items to our customers, many a time, customer will ask if we can help with the setup of the fire.

As much as we would like to extend our help, we are always confine with the constraint of time.

Hence we have decided to post a video that we come across over Youtube.

We feel that this is a simple but yet suitable illustration of how it can be done to setup a base fire for the grill.

The white substance you saw in the video is believe to be a solid fuel hence it can be replaced with the fire starter that is part of the package menu.

The fire that is ideal for a perfect grill should look like the picture attached below.

Your BBQ food will be Char-Black if your fire looks like the picture below

To keep your BBQ session simple, visit our website www.thecavemanbbq.com today as we will take care of your entire BBQ session except fire setup and the grilling of the food.. :)

Drinks(alcoholic, of course) that go well with the meats!

Drinking is as personal as it can be.. hence these are just thoughts based on our opinions. Disclaimers are just as important now! hehe..

Ok enough of the bull..

Meats are generally separated into two classes: white and red and it is defined by the concentration of myoglobin in the muscle fibre. When myoglobin exposed to oxygen, reddish oxymyoglobin develops.  making myoglobin-rich meat appears red. The redness of meat depends on species, animal age and fibre type. Red contains more narrow muscle fibres that tend to operate over long periods without rest while white meat contains more broad fibre that tend to work in short fast bursts.

Generally, the meat of adult mammals such as cows, sheep, goats and pig is considered red; while chicken and seafood is considered white.

We came across this in the web and it pretty much helps to conclude what is in line with the food which are served in our eshop.

Hence when you order food for your BBQ session, you can prepare your wine in the chiller to enhance the hospitality motion of yours!

Condiments that goes with meat and what are the ingredients involved??

Sauces used are generally very personal as it is pretty much depends on the individual's taste buds.

Ketchup(Tomato) Sauce, Chill Sauce, Tabasco Sauce, Yellow Mustard will be the four selection we have made to share with you on their manufacturing process.

Ketchup(Tomato) Sauce

Commonly used as a condiments with various dishes that are usually served hot including grilled meat. In the 17th Centurty, the Chinese mixed a concoction of pickled fish and spices and called it ke-chiap (in mandarin) meaning the brine of pickled fish. By the early 18th Century, the table sauce had made it to the Malay states( present day Malaysia and Singapore), where it was discovered by the English explorers. The Indonesia-Malay word for the sauce was kecap. The word evolved into the English word Ketchup.

The main ingredients of ketchup are tomatoes, sweeteners, vinegar, salt, spices, flavourings, onion and/or garlic. The end product is normally stocked into plastic or glass bottles and as the years went along, it was packed into packets.

Chili Sauce

Chili Sauce is a condiment prepared with chili peppers and red tomato as primary ingredients. Chili sauce may be hot, sweet or combination.

Tabasco Sauce

This is a brand of hot sauce made exclusively from tabasco peppers, vinegar and salt. It has a hot, spicy taste. Several different variations have also evolved after all years to keep this brand in its unique position.

Yellow mustard

Mustard is a condiment made from the seeds of a mustard plant. The whole, ground, cracked or bruised mustard seeds are mixed with water, salt, lemon juice or other liquids and sometimes other flavourings with spices to create a paste or sauce ranging in colour from bright yellow to dark brown. The tastes range from sweet to spicy.

Be it sweet, spicy, salty, bitter or sour, all these sauces are used to enhance the taste of our food and importantly unique to our own selection.

So what will you select to go together with our food range???

BBQ BBQ BBQ BBQ BBQ BBQ BBQ - something we always mentioned

BBQ BBQ BBQ is an abbreviation that it commonly use everywhere. But do you know what is this actually?

BBQ which is the abbreviation for Barbecue. It is always confused between the word grill.

Grill is the cooking method over direct flame which is hot and fast while barbecue is the method over indirect flame which is low and slow.

Some of you must be wondering why indirect flame for BBQ?? We must admit and say that there are many who are doing it the wrong way.

This becomes direct flame and normally charred food is served.

Ideal condition to smoke over indirect flame which is charcoal.

Hence in order for you and your party goers to enjoy your BBQ food in the right temperature and not indulging into charred food, please make sure you are in good control of the fire.

Visit our website www.thecavemanbbq.com for the food selection.

Bugs away as i enjoy my fun during my bbq session

I guess one of the thing that will keep good remembrance other than the food and laughter during BBQ session, would definitely be a mozzi bite.

Scratching and scratching - i must say it feels really irritating and uncomfortable.

Singapore is a summer all seasons thru the year environment hence this is one of the ideal state that our dear mosquito like to breed.

At The Caveman BBQ, we would like to share what we have research and know to our customers.

We are going to introduce HOME MADE (DIY) INSECT REPELLENT to you guys:

These self-created repellent can be more effective than the over the counter lotion or spray however you have to keep the habit of re-applying to ensure its effectiveness.

Essential oils (EO) had been known to be one of the strongest to keep these bugs away:

  1. Tea Tree
  2. Eucalyptus
  3. Lemon
  4. Lemongrass/Citronella
  5. Lavender
  6. Rosemary
  7. Geranium
  8. Peppermint
  9. Clove
Tea tree seems to work best against ticks, chiggers and deer flies, while citronella, lemon and eucalyptus are the best for fending off mosquitos and black flies. According to one study, geranium blended with peppermint is also a great combination to keep mosquitoes away. Remember that you should never use full strength EO directly on your skin; instead, they should be mixed with a carrier of some sort before being applied. You can add directly on your skin; instead, they should be mixed with a carrier of some sort before being applied. You can add a few oil daubs to outer clothing (like around the tops of your shoes), but only where they will not come into contact with skin.
Try to only use EO at a time, but if you're really intent on mixing scents, aim to keep them within the same scent family-- lemon can work with lemongrass, but smells downright rank when blended with eucalyptus. You can blend the latter with lavender, but sparingly. Lavender can work well with peppermint or rosemary, but use clove or tea tree oils on their own.

Repellent Spray #1 (Great for kids and pets)
  • Spray bottle (8oz or 10oz sizes work best)
  • Water
  • Witch hazel
  • Peppermint, clove, lavender, or lemongrass essential oil for small children, and lemon, eucalyptus, and tea tree for older kids and pets. (Lemon and eucalyptus can irritate the skin of very young children)
What you'll need:

Create a 50/50 mix of witch hazel and water, and add 15 drops of the essential oil of your choice. Spray on arms, legs, backs, and necks, and keep the wee ones away from heavily forested areas and stagnant water. If possible, treat the area in which they're going to be playing by smoking it out with cedar boughs, or by setting up bug traps to draw attention away from your loved ones.

Repellent Spray #2 (Stronger stuff, better for adults)

  • Spray bottle (8oz or 10oz sizes work best)
  • Water
  • Witch hazel
  • Vegetable glycerin
  • Lemon, citronella, tea tree, rosemary, or eucalyptus essential oil
What you’ll need:
Create a 20:80 mix of water and witch hazel, add a teaspoon of vegetable glycerin, and 30 drops of essential oil. Hose yourself down with this stuff if you’re in an insect-heavy area, and re-apply when the scent starts to fade. Feel free to do a blend of lemon and eucalyptus, or tea tree with rosemary; if you have a negative skin reaction, or if you really don’t like the smell, discontinue use.

Repellent Lotion #1 (Child-friendly)

  • 1/3 cup coconut oil
  • 15 drops peppermint, lavender, or clove essential oil

Mix the two together and slather on your kid's arms, legs and other body parts exposed to the wild. if you're using this on small children and they happen to get it in their mouths, it won't taste great but it won't do them any harm.

Repellent Lotion #2 (For adults and older offspring)

  • 1/3 cup liquid castile soap: Dr Bronner’s is ideal—choose citrus, tea tree, or eucalyptus
  • 30 drops essential oil of your choice: if you’re using a scented soap, use EO in the same scent
Smear this mixure all over your arms, legs, neck and hairline if you're going to go trudging through the woods, or will be gardening in bug-happy areas. As soon as you get back inside (or to your campsite), wash it all off. not only does this work really well to fend off insects, but you'll already be soaped up when you hit the showers. The reason this one is better for older folks is that we're a but less likely to put our hands in our mouths, or to accidentally lick some part of ourselves that may have ice cream or other snack-stuff dribbling on it -- a mouthful of soap isn't fun for anybody.

Lastly, we would like to share that Johnson's anti mosquito clear lotin is one of the over the counter product which is suitable for kids and it smells good.

Beefy Beef that comes along well with the gang

With the two previous post of Pig and Chicken, we have decided to bring the cow in the picture now.

As beef steak have to be served with minimum or zero marination, it is really the chef's skill to make this dish something spendid  and heartening for the customer.

At theCavemanBBQ, we keep it as simple as we can in order to bring out the skills of the griller to a good test.

BlackPepper Striploin Steak

Beef Steak are cooked to meet different expectations to the taste buds, very rare, rare, medium rare, medium, medium well done or well done and the least endear would be black and blue i suppose.

We found this description table very useful as it shows and relate the different expectations:

I guess there will be like hmmm.. so this is medium rare and not medium... as this is how i myself have misunderstood it until i saw the table above.

Alright! Go to the website now! www.thecavemanbbq.com to order the striploin steak to curb the craving now!
